So it's that time of year again...and as usual I am always so excited to see the kids get started on their projects. Then about a week before projects are due I am wondering why I let them take on so much!

Well, this year I did get Morgan to take one less project so she will only be doing seven. That means less posters...which is great, but I did buy the posters at Walgreens already anticipating her taking three projects that required posters.

Spencer, WILL NOT be sewing this year. Even though he keeps trying to find patterns that would be, in his words, "so much easier than last year". Well after last year, yes anything would be easier. He will be taking microwave cooking and floriculture. I hope the floriculture is as easy as it sounds. I will be looking around Ft. Wayne to see if there is any place that offers flower arranging classes, I think that will help tremendously.

Here is one of the patterns Morgan picked out. She will also have to find a pattern for some Capri's. We found the fabric at Joann's for only $4/yd, and we only needed 2 yds. (heads up next week Joann's clearance fabric will be 1/2 off!!)

This is fabric we picked up for $4.50/yrd that she will use the same pattern to make another top. I took two pictures of the fabric. One is the right side and the other is the wrong side. Morgan wants to do the majority of the shirt with the wrong side out and then do the yoke of the shirt (not sure if you can see it in this picture) with the right side. I think to make this shirt a little more difficult we will be adding piping around the yoke. It will actually help it look more professional as well.

Okay so I only have these two pictures of his Civil War Uniform, plus the one of him in it. He did three projects this year. He received a Champion in his grade level for sewing. Then he received the Reserve Champion for the division. Very good for his first time sewing.
The other projects he took were Microwave cooking and Crafts. He received reserve champion for Microwave Cooking and a blue for Crafts.

He had a great year and hopefully he will not want to sew again. I really did not have fun helping him with this. Hopefully he will be able to wear this at the Fall Fest when the reenactors host a dance.

I guess we are on a roll with the 4-H projects. We are very close to getting done with them. I am extremely proud of my daughter, which has finished 3 projects just this week. She will have another finished at the end of the week. Leaving 2 posters and her baking which is done the day of judging. I am feeling a little relieved.

Spencer is done with his pants and his craft project. We are still working on the Jacket (which will be the end of me, LOL). He will be baking his coffee cake to put in the freezer tomorrow. We have tested 3 now and we finally found a great recipe for a Microwaveable Blueberry Coffee Cake. He actually made a mistake and made it taste really good so we will be adding this to the recipe.

I plan on posting pictures of all of the projects when they are complete.

Well, we off to another year of 4-H. Spencer is taking 3 projects this year and Morgan is down to 6.
Both of the kids are taking sewing this year which is new for us. I have sewn before, but I have not sewn anything in a few years, and no one looked at the seams to make sure I did it right! I have been meaning to teach Morgan to sew for years, and just never gotten around to it. Well, now she wants to learn. Morgan will be sewing a dress with a jacket. Spencer will be sewing a Civil War costume. He had a hard time finding something, due to the fact they don't have many patterns out there for boys. As we go through the sewing process I will be posting pictures for you to see our progress. If you sew please leave me some tips. I especially will need some on adjusting the patterns, as they are both too big for them.
We are also taking, Cake Decorating, Microwave Cooking, Foods, Cat Poster, Veterinary Science Crafts and Horseless Horse. I will try and post pictures from these as well.
