Starting August Off Right

Posted by Johnny

This being back-to-school season for most retailers we are starting to see better sales and I am more than ready to take advantage of them. My parents and I went shopping yesterday at CVS and Walgreens and here are the deals I got.

CVS

(1) Softsoap Nutri Serums 4.99 - $2/1 IP only available for some zips

I used a $4 & $10 ECB bringing my total OOP to $1.58
Received back $4, $3, $5, & $1.98 in ECB's
(The $5 ECB is from the pads so it will make those free if you have the BOGO Q)

#2
(3) Electrosol Tabs @ 4.50ea - (3) 2.50 MQ = $6
I have to buy (2) More to finish the deal, which is buy $20 get $10 ECB's, then it will make these all free.
I actually messed up this transaction long story...but in the end my OOP was $2.88
Received back no ECB's

#3
On Hubby's Card
(1) Softsoap Nutri Serums 4.99 - $2/1 IP
(3) Visine Wipes @ 3.99ea - (3) $3/1 MQ = .99ea (this is the same deal as the pads so you have to have two cards to do both, because the limit is one per card)
After ECB's I paid only .31 OOP

Received back $4 & $5 ECB's

Total of $4.77 for all 3 transactions. There is a total of 17 items and an average cost of .28/item. Ironically that is the same number of items I got at Walgreens too.

And as usual CVS was out of a lot of items so I will need to run elsewhere to get the other things.

Walgreens

Received a $4 RR

I received back a $4 RR

Total for 4 Transactions $9.99 and have $14 in RR. Not bad for 17 items for an average of .59/item. I went in with $5 on a GC and literally came back out with it in RR's.

This Weeks Shopping Trips

Posted by Johnny

This post is a couple of days past due, but I have been so busy making my aprons that I have not posted my deals. Once I start sewing it's hard for me to pull myself away!

This is my Walgreens Trip. I had $4.83 OOP...I had a brain fart, because I forgot to use my RR's. I was in a hurry and that always makes me miss something. However, after coupons I had approx. $11 to pay and $6 of it was tax! (When I first posted this I forgot to add that I used the rest of the money I had on a gift card that is why I only had $4.83 OOP)SO here is what I snagged...I will get a rebate of $7.69 for the Axe hair gel/paste. So really I won't be out of any money.

This is from CVS...It ended up being .43 OOP.
I actually had a $10 ECB that expired the day before and I was so upset. Well, I handed it to the cashier and did not say a word. She took it and then I was very happy! I have already lost money that way in the past. These last couple of months just have been so lack luster for me at CVS. Maybe it's just me. I have been getting the Fusions, but besides that they have not really had that great of deals.
The Ritz are from a rain check I had from a few weeks ago and the calendar was for my daughter. The were marked down to .50.

And last but not least...this is from Meijer. I think Meijer has some great deals with the frozen food month. However, my freezer is pretty full so I really only needed to buy some dry goods. I am hoping that another Arm & Hammer deals comes along soon because I just ran out of the stuff I got from Walgreens before Christmas. I will see how Morgan reacts to the ALL, her skin is sensitive and I have never tried ALL, plus it was cheap this week with the $1 coupon from the All You magazine. For this trip I spent $14 and some odd change. Sorry I am not being accurate this week, but I can't seem to find where those receipts ended up. All in all I spent approximately $1 per item with this trip.

Pd 5.00 Ecb bring my total OOP to 1.05 (w/tax)

Great Clearance Deals

My first stop CVS:

Revlon Eye shadow 4.99 50% off = 2.49 -$2 MQ = .49
Revlon Nail Polish 5.99 50% off = 3.00 - $2 MQ = 1.00
I also had a $2 off Revlon CRT but the cashier had to adjust it down to $1.49. So my total was .28 then I used my gift card and paid $0 OOP.

Second stop Scott's (Kroger):

(3) Coffee Mate Creamers $1.89ea – (1) $1.50 IP (2) .50 MQ = .39ea
(2) Fuze Drinks .88ea – (2) .25 = .13ea
(4) Rice-a-Roni $1ea - $1/4 MQ = .75ea
(2) Cottonelle .99ea - .50 IP = FREE
(2) Softsoap $1ea - .35 MQ = FREE
(3) Hamburger Helper $1ea - .80/3 IP – (2) .75 Shortcuts Q’s = .23ea or .70 for all 3
(1) Colgate Total $2 - $1 cellfire Q - $1 MQ = FREE
(1) Colgate Max Fresh $1.50 - .75MQ = .75 (I should have received another Q off from cellfire, but it did not come off not sure if I picked up the wrong one or what.)
(2) Kotex $3ea – (2) $1 cellfire Q’s – (2) $1 MQ = $1ea

After all Q’s and including taxes my Total OOP was $8.52.

Third and BEST stop Walgreens:

Okay, the first is thing is an Ankle brace that my daughter needed after twisting her foot last night at practice so that was a must have, so…
(1) Ankle Brace $16.99
(2) Pantene Conditioners $1.29ea - $3/2 = -.42
(1) Glade Glass Scent .82 - $1MQ (from the inside of a package no clue which one) = - .18
(1) Electrasol Tabs $3.49 w/raincheck - $2.50MQ = .99
(2) Citrucel Chews $5.59ea – 3.00/1 Easysaver Q pg21 - $2MQ = .59ea
(2) Revlon Lipsticks $2.29ea - $2MQ also on sale for BOGO Free this week = -$1.71
(6) BioInfusion $1.99ea - $2/1 Easysaver Q pg 14 = -.06

After all q’s My total was only $20.30. After leaving I looked at my receipt and noticed that my subtotal was only $16.85 which was less that the brace itself. I will also be getting $1.65 back in rebate for the Electrasol.
Also keep in mind that this particular cashier gave me overage and some do not. I was only expecting free and did not plan on the overage, that way if I get overage it makes me even happier!!

I hope to get more time to go back in tomorrow for some other things I saw on clearance. However I work so it will depend on how I feel after working 11+ hours.

Great Day of Shopping

I thought that it was pretty good considering the Coffee and the chicken!

It's been Awhile!

Posted by Johnny

I know it's been awhile since I have posted, but between starting school and the Holiday weekend I just couldn't get blogging in.

I actually have not been super excited about the great deals anyway, but felt like I should have posted something, but I didn't!
So, I was out shopping today not looking for really much of anything. But I did find some great deals and after the full day of shopping!

Pictured below is the great CVS run! I only paid .03 OOP! (out of pocket)
This doesn't look like much however the lipstick is 9.99 normally. I just can't believe people pay that.

I used the Covergirl BOGO coupon in conjunction with the BOGO deal CVS is running. The flip-flops were marked down 75% off making them 1.25. And then the toothpaste was 2.99 with 2.00 ecb's and then I used the 1.00 coupon from a couple weeks ago.

After stopping by Walgreens and then Meijer Mom and I hit Kroger which had skinless boneless chicken marked at 1.43/#! WOW!!! I picked up 24#'s! That price around here is very good and I have a hard time finding it even reduced for that price.

Will I ever make it into CVS this week?

Posted by Johnny

I have tried to get to CVS 2-3 times this week and just haven't been able to get in. I have so busy with working, softball and 4-H projects it just seems like I will not get any great deals!

I was so looking forward to getting the Oral-B toothbrushes. I know that when I finally make it in they will be out. My mom said she went in today and they only had 4 left! I just can't for the life of me figure out why they can't order things ahead of time so that when the sale starts they have the product. Okay not that I need another toothbrush, but I am actually donating extra things like this to Operation Christmas Child. So, if I can get more for FREE then I would really like them.

So tell me are your stores the same or am I alone here?

CVS Trip 6/11

I got all this for .03! Wow! I was so proud of Mom when she got er stuff for .05 and then it was my turn! I ended up getting more than I had planned on, but it really paid off. Listed below is what I got and what q's I used.

2 Reeses Whipps 2/1.00 - 1.00/2 MQ
12 Bags of Asst. Gold Emblem Candy .88ea - 1.00/2 CRT
2 Folgers Coffee $10ea - 1.00/2 MQ
2 Sobe Life Water 1.00ea - BOGO MQ
3 Twizzler 2.49ea - B2G1 MQ
4 Nivea Shave Gel 2.99ea - (2) $4/2 MQ

I used a $10/50 CRT & a $3/10 CVS products CRT(Gold Emblem are CVS brand)
then I used 29.96 in ECB's
I got back $20 in ECB's
Paid .03 OOP!!!

I did lose 9.96 in ECB's, but still have about $30 so I am okay, because I will go and do the Nivea deal again this week.
FYI - the Nivea Deal is a money maker. Buy 4 shave gels use the coupon from this last weeks paper, B2 get $4 off, then you get $5 ECB's so even if you have no ECB's to start this is a great deal to start with. You bank $1.04!!!

Oh by the way, the Twizzlers have 3 point on them that count towards a free movie ticket. Get 15 point to earn the ticket. So of course now I am saving as many points as possible to count towards this deal. We don't go to the movies much due to the cost, so this will be great if I can get enough points added up.

I have not been able to make in into CVS this week due the busy schedule we have had this week. I would like to get in and pick up some monthly deals before they are gone. I know the Listerine is a money maker and I just simply need the bandages.
I need to also work up some scenarios and will probably have some scenarios posted for next weeks ad within the next couple of days.

What are your plans to buy at CVS this week? Do you see any great deals?

CVS Week 5/11

Posted by Johnny

I have not wrote any scenarios or deals this week because I am not impressed with them at all. I did go and get some Intuition refills and four bags of Bliss chocolate. I had a $4 MQ for the Intuition and 2 B1G1 MQ's for the Bliss, which qualified me for the $10 Hershey's deal. Other than that it has not been too busy at CVS this week for me.
As a side note to the slow week I went in to our local CVS and found out that we now have a scanner!!! That was a great positive. I scanned my card and received $10/$50. I was not super excited about it, because I get them a lot from the register, but it was fun to use the scanner for the first time. I so badly wanted to scan my card again to see if it would give me something different, but the manager stood there and stared at me. I figured I would go in some night during the week when a different manager was on duty (a more friendly one) ands scan my card a few times and see what I get.

CVS Trip 5/01

May is finally here! Well I got all this today when I went into CVS,with the exception of the Clean & Clear,I got this from Wal-Mart. I did two transactions at CVS today and spent a total of $1.87 OOP! I did make a mistake and I grabbed 4 Aquafresh forgetting that the limit was 3 this month on most of the Freebies, so it took a little bite out of my ECB's but all in all I feel I did good. I also wanted to get one more Bic or get refills for it, but they only had 1 so I guess I will be happy with 1.
I used a total of 37.96 in ECB's I also received an e-mail with a $5 off $30 purchase! I now have $48.69 in ECB's!! I also received 3 CRT's -
$5 off Maalox, Gas-X, Exlax
$4 off Nature Made Cholest-off
$1 off any (3) Kleenex facial tissue (could have used this last week)
Sorry for not breaking this down better, but I cut off the ECB's from each transaction before figuring it all out.

The Clean & Clear is at Wal-Mart in the Travel section and it is Free, with possible overage depending on what cashier you checkout with. No matter what is is still Free. Just in case you get overage buy a gallon of milk or eggs just to be safe.

My Scenario for CVS

Posted by Johnny

I am planning on going in two times this week since teh May book doesn't start until Thursday May 1st. So my first trip will not be that spectacular, I am hoping they will have the items I want.

2-Lint Rollers 2/$5 - (2)$1 coupons here
4-Post it Flags 2/$4 - (2) $3/2 Post-It products here
1-Command Adhesive Hook - (1) $1/1 any Command Product here
1- Just for Men Haircolor - (1)$2/1 Register Here
My total before Coupons and taxes should look like this $23.49
After Coupons it should be $12.49
I will use $12.00 in ECB's and get back $12.99! Yeah! Can we say Free!

Edited: I wanted to edit this post to let everyone know that I went to CVS tonight and realized that the Just for Men coupon will not work on this deal. I am leaving the link, because it may work at some other store. I don't shop Rite Aid, but I know they have a deal on the Just for Men so it may work there.

Nivea

Posted by Johnny

For those of you who don't know I do merchandising jobs here and there when they are offered at a reasonable rate.
Yesterday and today I actually did a very easy Nivea promotion in the CVS stores. As you walk in the CVS store you will notice the security pedestals. Those pedestals have plexi glass on them and under the plexi is where I placed the ads. On these pedestals there are also coupons for $1 off NIvea. These coupons are CVS coupons so you can use them along with your Nivea Manufacture coupons to get more savings.
From what I understand they will placing other ads through out the year so keep your eyes open for more coupons.
